The truth about oil – Omega3 and Omega6

God herlig Søndag, jeg håber du har en dejlig week-end.

Dagen indlæg handler om olie eller nærmere bestemt de fedtstoffer som vi spiser og som vi har brug for. Jeg har netop læst artiklen “Sandheden om olie” i Costume. Og jeg sidder tilbage og tænker at det gode gamle ordsprog “for lidt og for meget fordærver alt” er meget passende for denne artikel.

Artiklen går i alt sin enkelthed ud på at det er godt vi ikke mere er fedtforskrækkede, fordi vores kroppe har brug for fedtet til mange vigtige processer. Men at vi skal være opmærksomme på at have den rigtige balance mellem Omega3 og Omega6.

Omega6 får vi gennem:

  • Alle vegetabilske olier som oliven-, soja-, majs-, vindruekerne- og solsikkeolie
  • Fuldkorn – det grove brød
  • Avokado
  • Nødder
  • Kerner, -solsikke, -pinje og græskarkerner
  • Tun i olie
  • Chips – især dem der stegt i vegetabilsk olie
  • Kiks og færdigkager
  • Købesupper

Omega3 får vi gennem fisk

Får vi for meget af Omega6 fedtsyrer belaster immunforsvaret og det kan give humørsvingninger  blødnings forstyrrelser og vægtstigninger. Og huden kan reagerer med rødme irritation, urenhedder og tørhed. Alt sammen fordi kroppen ikke kan bearbejde alle de omega6 fedtsyrer vi spiser. Og hvad værre er når Omega6 niveauet er for højt overser kroppen de Omega3 fedtsyrer vi rent faktisk spiser.

Ubalance i fordelingen mellem Omega3 og Omega6 påvirker som sagt hormonbalancen. Den optimale balance mellem Omega3 og Omega6 hedder 1:5. Men vi spiser nærmere i forholdet 1:15.

Derfor skal vi skære ned de Omega6 tunge madvarer.

Jeg trorikke, jeg er en af dem som ikke har den rette balance mellem Omega3 og Omega6. Jeg vil i den kommende tid tænke over den fordeling når jeg laver mad og når jeg spiser. Det handler om at skabe den rette fordeling mellem de to fedtsyrer. Jeg oplever ikke de nævnte problemer, men jeg vil alligevel tænke over det.

Todays post is about oil, or more specifically the fat we eat and who we need. I have just read the article “The Truth About Oil” in this issue of Costume. And I sit back and think about the good old saying “too little and too much spoils everything.”

It is in all its simplicity  good that we no more are fat frightened because our bodies need fat for many important processes. But we must be mindful of having the right balance between Omega3 and Omega6.

Omega6 we get from:

  • All vegetable oils like olive, soybean, corn, grape seed and sunflower oil
  • Whole grains – the coarse bread
  • Avocado
  • Nuts
  • Kerner-sunflower-pine and pumpkin seeds
  • Tuna in oil
  • Chips – specialy those fried in vegetable oil 
  • Biscuits and finished cakes
  • Buy Soups

Omega3 we get from fish.

If we get too much of Omega6 fatty acids it impact on the immune system and can cause mood swings, bleeding disorders and weight gain. The skin can reacts with redness irritation, impure skin and dryness. All because the body can not process all the Omega6 fatty acids we get. And what’s worse is when the Omega6 level is too high our body overlooks the Omega 3 fatty acids we actually eat.

Imbalance in the balance between Omega3 and Omega6 affect the hormone balance. The optimal balance of Omega3 and Omega6 is 1:5. But we eat more in the ratio 1:15.

There fore, we must cut down on the Omega6 heavy foods.

I think I am one of those, who do not have the right balance between Omega3 and Omega6. I will in future think about the balance when I cook and when I eat. It is all about striking the right balance between the two fatty acids.
